It’s just a great place , decorated so nicely , Clean , owner is always there making sure everything’s ok , food is the BEST never had a bad meal there , chips and Salsa are free and so good ! On the weekends the upstairs is open , little Bar and solo or few people playing music . Great cozy feel . Great place altogether!

Great little hidden gem of a restaurant! Cute little dining area on the front porch which is a fun little spin. The carnitas are great as were the enchiladas banderas! Definitely not cookie cutter, everyday Mexican food. Even the chips and salsa had their own unique flavor to them. Very friendly staff as well!

Fajitas were a great suggestion. Courteous staff. Nice find for me on a solo trip.

Excellent food and service.

Just keeps getting better, one of Penn Yan's hidden hot spots. Authentic Mexican food that will not be liked by the Taco Bell generation. If you come to try new things, you will not be disappointed, and they keep improving the interior with an authentic Mexico feel. Very cool. We love it !!!

Very good! A lot of small town Mexican restaurants go the Taco Bell route---greasy food with a lot of cheese dumped on top to hide the lack of flavor. After all, you're in a small town with not much choice in Mexican food, so who's going to know the difference? Thank the Mexican deities for places like La Cocina that provide good, tasty Mexican food to the small town masses!

Excellent & friendly service! The portions are a good size, and they have so many delicious options - I've never been disappointed! They also offer a nice collection of wine, beer, and mix drinks - and the outdoor patio is nice to relax after a long day. Also, the prices are very reasonable! I love how everything is made with fresh ingredients, nothing is greasy, everything is so fresh!

La Cocina's is my favorite restaurant in Penn Yan. I've almost tried everything on the menu and each dish is excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff. There is nothing better than feeling like your part of the family and this restaurant is literally in the middle of town. Great birthdays, anniversaries dinners as well. They also have a private area on a second floor with a bar and live band!!! You can't go wrong.

La Cocina is a favorite of locals and visitors alike for very good reason. They don't use greasy, orange ground beef like most Mexican joints - their beef is marinated and shredded. Much of their ingredients are locally grown (when in season), such as the tomatoes that permeate their authentic dishes and sides. Taco Tuesdays (Thursday during the winter) are a great deal - $1.50! I love their Pork Napolitos and Chicken Suiza.

Just had one of the worst meals ever in the finger lakes. Service was slow and food was terrible. We were a big party, so I can understand the kitchen being a little slow, but 20 minutes to get water and no follow up after the meal finally came out over an hour after we were seated.

Good food, good staff, wheelchair accessible. You have to go around outside of building to find layered ramp up to porch, but it works!

I have been with La Cocina for 8 years , we have grown quite a remarkable amount. We strive for the best and make things fresh from the start! The beans are made in house and we go through them quickly, as well as the rice. All sauces are homeade and chips and salsa are given at no charge to the dine in tables downstairs . It is one of the busiest restaurant in town and is quite small in size so it is wise to do a call ahead seating to check what’s available. Small town atmosphere and pricing . Super busy in the summer and since all things are made to order, it can take a normal dinner hour for food. On top of whatever wait we are on.Please be patient and enjoy a beverage or app upstairs while you wait.

Food was mediocre but horrible service. Took forever to get food and bus-boys waited around while the only 2 waitresses struggled to get orders out. Multiple times the only cook had to come out and help waiter while putting the cooking process of food on hold. Also may need more experienced hostess. Don't recommend.

I love this place. One of the best places to eat in Penn Yan. Delicious Mexican food. House margaritas and Mexican beers. Friendly owner and staff. Reasonably priced. What more could you ask? (Oh, ask for tacos on Taco Tuesday!)

Excellent! I went because a friend's band was playing. Both the margaritas and my dinner were excellent.

The food was very good and wait staff quite friendly. We were there at a very busy time and our server was quire busy but she took the time to offer us more drinks and chips while we waited. She assured us our dinners would be coming soon and that was much appreciated.

The food was absolutely horrible and tasted nothing like Mexican food! I was served burnt rice, bland/overcooked pork, and refried beans that we're most certainly not refried beans. The best thing about the place was our server, who was very friendly, but someone in the staff kept barking out orders and clearly making her anxious! I will NEVER go back there again!!!!

Very polite and attentive. We were a large party and they seated us quickly. They brought out a free cheese enchiladas appetizer when another large party's food was in front of ours. The only two drawbacks were the chips (though the salsa was good), and the mole sauce on the enchiladas was unexpected. Other than that, it was a place we'd be happy to return to again.

Can't remember what the dish was called anymore but it was delicious! Served on a sizzling hot skillet that was steaming and smoking so much it set off the smoke alarms. It was great! Definitely going back again.
